I belong to a church (can I say that despite not having attended a morning service since lock down) and do not like 'the teaching' of new songs - cringeworthy. Musicians can you just play the song at the start and end of the service over a couple of weeks and it'll sink in?
Yes exactly. Plus I think we don’t need to keep learning new ones as there is such a wide range of songs already available. I hope that your church and the people there are still keeping in contact with you.
It's a shame we can't be more honest about church when we're in church. It's like we talk openly about what we like and don't like about it with those close to us but when we're with people in church we have to "play the game". Being open might cost us that sense of belonging we need so much from it.
Sometimes I do wonder if anyone likes some of the stuff that goes on at church. You are totally right about playing the game. I think we need a feedback mechanism to question some of the stuff that goes on!
Well I was going to Larne! I agreed to sit on a group that would listen to how churches I different areas are getting on at the moment and the declining numbers etc... I have many thoughts but I'd need a book for all those thoughts!
I’m with Russell!!! But I do like “O Holy Night” 😉
I think some of us find those singing situations very awkward but I guess there's always the option to abstain...

Where were you going with the singing priests Deborah?
