Huge Congrats!! Such an incredible achievement and offering. Can’t wait to read your book baby. You are my inspiration - except over here it’s notes on my phone instead of a book and a fleet of boys instead of girls. One day at a time!

Thank you Reb for this! What I’m thinking now is that I have only scratched the surface with what I’m trying to say and I should have spent more time on it… I’d say your boys are prob better behaved than my girls. At the moment mine are all hormonal, emotional nightmares and I have achieved very little this week so far…

This was special and from the heart - thank you Deborah. Alice is blessed to have had 21 years of love and support. I’m sure she knows that. Great photo of you both and yea she is so like you!!! X

I've saved reading this until Sunday morning as I couldn't give it my full attention before now. Deborah I'm delighted you've reached this milestone - huge congratulations! And the Merchant is an excellent place to celebrate birthdays. This is a beautiful piece. There are many mothers that I am not and I sometimes wish I could be, but I've made peace with the mother I am and it's better this way. My mum died in April and I have so much gratitude for how she loved and cared for me. I didn't need her to be "all the mums". She was plenty enough. Enjoy your Sunday.

What a lovely comment Julie, thank you. You are so right, we have to make peace with the mother we are and resist the temptation to compare ourselves. And what a beautiful tribute to your mum - that you didn’t need her to be all the mums, just your mum. I’m sure you miss her very much. Thinking of you x

You and Alice are so alike! What a lovely piece you have written touching on all the layers involved in mothering. I think we just have to foster contentment with our well intentioned, imperfect efforts 🤎

Thank you! Yes in that photo I definitely see the likeness. There are definitely layers of mothering. Again there could be a whole book on that topic!

Looking forward to reading your book, one I suspect you’ve poured your heart and soul into sharing the rawness and magic of life.

Thank you Elaine, yes I’ve certainly covered a lot of things in the book - maybe too much as I decided identity for example could have been a whole book by itself!

Love this one Deborah and so looking forward to reading your book. Happy birthday to Alice - belatedly! Mothering is certainly a shock to the system but the roller coaster ride is so exhilarating and worth the never-ending journey!

Thank you Linda and yes I’m sure you know that the journey is never-ending! 21 is not really the key to the door anymore. A mother is still needed!
