Thank you Deborah for what you have shared in this space. It has been lovely getting to know you here and I look forward to reading more of your musings in whatever form they take. I feel I have made a friend here, through reading your very relatable and inclusive essays. I am happy to read other items you want an opinion on, but I know you may have other readers more qualified to do this for you. I will see you at the next pop up book group x

Oh no now I am panicking that I have confused people as I’m not stopping writing on here, just stopping the monthly inspirations with all the recommendations in favour of doing pieces of writing instead. I will still be publishing every Friday so you’ll still hear from me here! Look forward to seeing you at the pop up book club!

I meant to also say I’d be delighted if you’d read stuff I’ve written. My email address is contact@deborahsloan.co.uk if you’d send me your email address or text me it. Thanks!

1. I KNEW THE RETIRED POLICE OFFICER IN BLUE LIGHTS LOOKED FAMILIAR!!!! It was annoying me but not enough to look him up. 2. I feel passionately against laptops in Portugal - the best writers are readers, right? You should def take the time to creatively re-fuel. Also, I booked that ridiculously early flight to Portugal once and ended up missing it so don’t be like me 🙂 3. I would love to read your draft essays if you still need some eyes. How exciting!! Cheering for your book baby! The world needs your voice.

Yes, I think creative re-fuelling sounds more appealing than the laptop. How will I read the six books I'm taking if I'm tapping a keyboard. Missing the flight to Portugal sounds like a story that needs to be told! Thank you so much for offering to read my draft essays and for your encouragement. I have your email address I think so will send something to you to read, maybe after Portugal!

I would leave the lap top at home if it were me going to Portugal (I did that ridiculously early flight this week and it's very survivable). Have you read Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird? She's a sassy, thoughtful writer who also teaches writing.

Well I hope you are having a lovely time in Portugal if you are still there! I am thinking the laptop is only extra weight in my suitcase! Yes I have read Anne Lamott - she has a great quote about if people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should have behaved better!! (I totally agree).
