It was lovely to see you in person on Wednesday evening....even though I did say I felt like I knew your husband which I obviously don't! I am one of those folk though that look forward to finishing up on a Friday and reading your writing. It is a lovely end to my working week. So keep going, keep sharing. Looking forward to 2024 and what comes next for you and me! Have a lovely Christmas, Jill x

It was lovely to see you too! And you are not the only one to say you feel like you know my husband! If only I could find something other than him to write about... Happy Christmas and all the best for 2024. We’ll get a catch up once we’re a bit into 2024 to see how we’re both getting on!

Thank you for that piece, Deborah! I am having some doubts about my 'path' in life and the career choices I have made, the ones I am continuing to make and the ones that I am yet to make. It is somewhat disconcerting but I am riding the wave and hoping I come out the other end knowing what I am 'supposed' to be doing and what the right decision for me is.

Keep sharing your wisdom! :)

P.S. I have only just come back to Substack (I am hoping I commit to staying this time around) so have loads of catching up to do...

Welcome back Siya! Do stay! Riding the wave is a great way of describing that journey of figuring out what you want to do in life. I sort of feel I’m out the other side now in that I am content with what I’m doing, much more at peace but there were a lot of ups and downs… Good luck with the journey.

My thought is 'Division of labour' and not Adam Smith's definition. You have your duties, himself has his. There are pluses, minuses and costs to be divided up. So if you're living life aligned with your values, does it matter who picks up the tab.

That's a good way to look at it!

Good one. Made me cry a bit. So you are doing something right. Maybe I just identify with a lot of this. Anyhoo keep it up. Happy Christmas Deborah.

Well I think the most important thing to remember in all this is that no one used to be someone just because they had a job or a career. They still could be someone or whoever they want to be!
