Catching up – happy belated birthday! I read the piece about Kristy and was struck by the Father’s prayer for her husband. I prayed the same thing after Mike died. And I did have such a dream. I can’t remember if I blogged about it but briefly, it was a vision of Mike building a home for us in heaven – white stone, simple and solid and strong. In a neighbourhood of people who loved him – his mum and his granma (and, inexplicably, Harold from Neighbours). He was outdoors all day and his skin was sun kissed and his limbs were strong and he was happy. I don’t know what I believe about life after death – what it looks like, how it will feel, whether I will truly be with him again – but the dream brought me such comfort and I like to think that it is like that in spirit, if not in practice.

Emma I certainly think dreams can be messages. What a beautiful and powerful dream about Mike and to see and feel it in such detail too. Sometimes we can’t remember dreams but you were obviously meant to recall this one clearly. You’ve really made me think now about the priest praying for comfort to come to Kristy’s husband in this way and how this actually happened to you. The priest obviously believed in life after death and a spiritual after life but yes, there are always questions about this. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Well congratulations on reaching your….th birthday Deborah. Believe me there is life after!!🤣 I don’t think I’ve ever heard of Lucy Jordan before and thanks for sharing Kristy’s story. So terribly sad. I’ve been to the 9/11 memorial and it’s something I’ll never forget, especially since I had previously stood at the top of the Twin Towers just a couple of years prior to the disaster. By the way, on a lighter note, have Holland and Barrett been of any help? 🤣

Glad I introduced you to Lucy Jordan, Linda. Mind you, her’s isn’t a very cheery story! Yes I stood at the top of the Twin Towers in March 1999 so it is hard to take it all in when you’ve been there. We were so impressed with the 9/11 Museum and Memorial - it’s been so sensitively done. P.S. I still need to check out what Holland and Barrett can offer me!

Loved this piece, thank you for sharing. I turned 40 two years ago and I had the first round of existential questions. Good to know that it doesn’t get better. 😅 Perhaps the crisis is the certainty that we don’t have any control over life, over our bodies, over existence. For a short while it felt like we did but it was a mirage. I’ll roll with that.

Thank you Claudia! I think the existential stuff is inevitable but we just need regular reminders of what matters. And you’re right, we don’t have any control. Currently I am somewhere between adventure and the comfort of home as the best way to live!
